What was great in HGL is that every character is very different from the rest and has a different play style. So I downloaded the mod, installed it (it was somewhat tricky, but whatever) and gave it a go.įor an action RPG, the ability to play it from 1st or 3rd person is great. However, before doing so, I had to find the 1.2 patch again and while searching for it, found something else: the Revival forums ( ), who made a very decent HGL mod that improves spawns, quests, drops, shops (uniques and legendaries in shops - I liked that, since it's great for casual play and you don't need to do a ton of boss runs to get some), adds dyes and a number of content. Although the servers are down, the SP is still viable (if you discard the frequene crashes that caused many people to stop supporting the game), so I decided to give it a go. The server is under active development.Well, I took a small break from Sacred 2 leveling these 2 days and decided to fool around with Hellgate London. We don’t make any revenue or profit from the project, and run it simply as fans of the game.Īll of the 2038 team missed the amazing, ahead-of-its time ARPG Hellgate: London and wanted to bring it back to the passionate, dedicated, and friendly community the game has fostered after all these years. London 2038 is free to play, and involves no money at all. We do not distribute the game, and we absolutely cannot encourage, advise, or facilitate piracy! You must own a copy of the game to play our mod. We are not the owners or copyright holders of Hellgate: London! We are just fans running a server which allows players who own the game to experience multiplayer again. So instead, here’s a quick overview of the project itself: London 2038 is a completely free, non-commercial, fan-made, volunteer-run private server project to bring back classic Hellgate: London multiplayer as it was in 2007-2009. The previous patch handled most of the changes already and as a result, the actual beta patch notes aren’t at all extensive.

And sure enough, the beta is now live, allowing you to revisit Hellgate: London’s multiplayer in its 2007-2009 iteration. A couple weeks ago, London 2038 - an unofficial multiplayer revival mod for Hellgate: London - received a major patch preparing it for open beta.
